So I’ve processed one more of the bacterial matting photographs I took at Yellowstone National Park for this week’s Photo Friday entry, “Awful!”. Personally, I think it looks pretty cool, but the smell was pretty awful and I’m sure some people would think that photographs of bacterial mats is pretty gross.

This week marks my return to Photo Friday after a long hiatus due to the ‘Great American Road-trip’. Pam and I found this little origami crane in Glacier National Park, on the beach of Lake Josephine. It made me think that I need to learn origami so that my next public art project can be little (or big) origami creatures.

I took this image in Spokane and then took several hours processing it in Seattle. I’ve been trying to capture this image for a while and hope you enjoy it!

So another ‘boring’ one as Donnie would put it, where I just put the animal in its actual habitat. This little pond was in North Cascades National Park, right by the campground and was very obviously dammed up by a beaver. Since the ground was so muddy, I took the easy route and had him perched on the branch, rather than down near the water edge.

So since squirrels in National Parks are such food beggars. I got the idea to take the squirrel photo when we had all the food on the table. Some of these squirrels are pretty aggressive due to all the humans that regularly feed them, so next time you are in a National Park watch out. You could get bombarded by squirrels who think your dinner and their dinner are one in the same! :)

Here’s one of the famous thermal pools near Old Faithful. The colors of these pools were so amazing!

This was one of my favorite views in Yellowstone. This photo was taken at Artist’s Point looking back towards Lower Yellowstone Falls down the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. I loved the colors of the rock, contrasting with the falls. Too bad the sky wasn’t a little bluer…
