Here is Photo Number 2 from the Valencia and Mission alley. It’s also this week’s Photo Friday challenge: Beauty.

So I’ve processed one more of the bacterial matting photographs I took at Yellowstone National Park for this week’s Photo Friday entry, “Awful!”. Personally, I think it looks pretty cool, but the smell was pretty awful and I’m sure some people would think that photographs of bacterial mats is pretty gross.

This week marks my return to Photo Friday after a long hiatus due to the ‘Great American Road-trip’. Pam and I found this little origami crane in Glacier National Park, on the beach of Lake Josephine. It made me think that I need to learn origami so that my next public art project can be little (or big) origami creatures.

Fire Falls

Over the weekend, I finally got to see the rainbow form on Bridalveil Fall. I had heard of this phenomenon and had seen photographs taken during the event, but had never seen it in person. Luckily, I was with Gary Hart, who is a wealth of information on capturing the beauty of Yosemite National Park on ‘film’. Gary had us set up at Tunnel View just in time to see the rainbow form on the falls. While this is not the ‘old-school’ firefall in Yosemite, I think it is appropriate for the Fire challenge this week at Photo Friday. Hope you enjoy it!

Secret

I had a really hard time with this week’s Photo Friday theme “My Little Secret”. Rather than my usual method of creating an image specifically to fit the theme, I pulled this photo out of the archives. I shot it a couple of weeks ago, but never got around to processing it. One of my favorite lazy day activities is to walk along the railroad tracks, look for random objects, and then make up stories of how they arrived in that spot. In my mind, the railroad tracks are this secret little corridor through town where all kinds of clandestine activities take place.

Electricity

Last night Donnie, John, Mark, and I went to the park and had some fun. Thanks to Sara for providing the sparklers and to the boys for running around the playground with the sparklers, especially since each of them maimed themselves in the process.

Coal-ed

A big thanks to Donnie for not only coming up with the idea, but being willing to be “coal-ed”.

Surreal

So this week’s Photo Friday challenge was Surreal. My main intent was simplistic, to pay obvious homage to one of my favorite surrealist painters and in turn to play around with some of the distort filters in Photoshop that I hadn’t experimented with yet.

Fuzzy (Take 2)

So I posted this last night (I thought) and now it seems to have disappeared. This photo was taken at the RSP2 Fundraiser over the weekend. Here’s this week’s Photo Friday entry entitled Fuzzy…
